Measurement System Analysis

Introduction

This ePITsolutions eLearning module deals with Measurement System Analysis (MSA). MSA is one
mandatory analysis that must be performed to ensure your Measurement System is valid. This
module is applicable whatever activity you are engaged in, as soon as the quality of your work is
assessed with measurements of products characteristics.
MSA is a requirement from AS/EN/SJAC 9145 standard, that is the standard dealing with Advanced

Product Quality Planning (APQP) applicable by aerospace and defence companies. This ePITsolutions
eLearning module has been developed in accordance with IAQG recommendations which are
available in the SCMH. It has not been approved by IAQG.

This ePITsolutions eLearning module can be used by every company that performs industrial
activities, in the aerospace sector or not. The principles and examples that are described in this
eLearning are applicable by every company that assesses the conformity of its products through the
measurement of physical characteristics.

Prerequisite

This ePITsolutions eLearning module has been designed for every technician, engineer and manager
(design, manufacturing and quality) who needs to understand the principles of the measurement
system and/or must perform an analysis of the measurement system.

Goal

Understand the different parameters surrounding the Measurement System
Be able to perform a Measurement System Analysis

Methods and evaluation tools

This ePITsolutions eLearning module is composed of an eTutorial and an ePractice.

  • The eTutorial explains, through animations and voice over, the principles and tools related to MSA.
It reviews the different kind of tools, the different characteristics of the measurement system ( biais,
linearity, …) and how to analyse the results of the statistics tools.
  • The ePractice enables to assess the knowledge that has been acquired by the trainee after running
the eTutorial. It reviews principles as well as practical applications.
The ePractice is scored. A minimum score of 90% correct answers should be reached to consider the
    topic being fully understood.

The examples and scenarios have been built for the only purpose of this ePITsolutions eLearning, the
names of the companies, the appliances, the supporting documentations have been designed to help
understand the concepts. The technical content is for the purpose of illustration only.

The certificate that may be issued after the training will show the time spent and the result obtained
on the quiz. The trainee can issue his certificate. At his request or at his company request, we may
also issue it and send an electronic copy. Please note that we keep the trainee enrolled for a
maximum duration of 1 month as a commitment to RGDP. Therefore, the training report will not be
accessible after this one month period – except if requested in writing differently.
